Telling Stories Through Photos
As a photographer with a disability, I am not limited by my physical constraints. I am Mika, a photographer who, with passion and determination, has found a way to continue doing what I love using only my right thumb to manipulate my camera. I am always looking for new ways to improve my craft and push the boundaries of what is possible.
Biography
I am Mika, a talented and ambitious photographer living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type II (SMA2). SMA2 is a rare genetic disorder that affects the muscles and mobility, leading to progressive muscle weakness, respiratory issues, and increased susceptibility to infections. These restrictions forced me to suppress my passion for photography for a long time. Despite these challenges, I finally decided to revive my passion and learn to improve my skills through creative adaptations and modifications, such as using specialized tools and technology to control my camera with only my thumb.
I have specialized in various areas of photography including landscape, portrait and creative photography. I am determined to take my photography to the next level and continuously develop my skills in all areas.
I am determined to pursue my dreams and inspire and support others with disabilities to achieve their own goals. I believe that (almost) nothing is impossible with the right mindset and I am excited about my future in photography.
I am grateful for every opportunity to share my work and hope that my pictures are inspiring and impressive and that they show that disabilities don't have to be a hindrance to leading a fulfilling and successful life.
I am grateful for every opportunity to share my work and wish to give others the courage to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals.
